The idea for this anthology was inspired by
The AugNo one
It is not an original idea we can lay claim to by far.
Attention all WriWees and bang'ites! You probably know by now that we will be compiling a short story anthology. Yes, as in an actual physical book you can proudly display to family and friends! Awesome? You know it.
Look below for the rules. These are a bit more stringent than we're used to, but they have to be for this to work.
Timeline
Guys, this is really important. If you can't work by a deadline, then this isn't for you.
11:59p [CST] 25 September: Sign ups close
If we get a lot of people who are interested, we'll have to accept the first 25 entrants, so if you want to do this, sign up early!
(Note: Active participants of
NaFiWriWee
will automatically be awarded the first slots, as this is a challenge running alongside that one. If you really want in, then join the community and become an active participant.)
11:59p [CST] 15 October: Edited submissions due
This is extremely important. When we say "edited", we mean it, guys. We won't be editing your work for you. Not without a fee, and I don't think you're going to pay for that. We all have access to beta readers/directories. Utilize your resources. It doesn't have to be perfect, but we need to see you've put effort into your piece or it won't be printed.
The book will be compiled in alphabetical order and will be abailable before the end of NaNo 2009! Can you say perfect holiday gift?
Note: The books are being sold to you at production cost. No royalties are being made, and if we decide to opt into them in the future, the funds will go toward supporting the comms and forums. We don't want your money, but we do want kick ass places for you all to hang out. You don't have to purchase the book to be in it, and you don't have to be in it to purchase it.
OTHER RULES
1.] No fanfiction. You can write it to count toward your Big Bang and WriWee word counts, but if we're going to publish this legitimately, we can't accept works not of your own creation. Sam and I would like to not be sued, thanks. XD
2.] You must edit your own work. As stated above, we all have access to one form of editor/beta or another. Use your resources. If you send something in that's filled with grammar mistakes and typos, you won't be printed. This is so important, guys. It doesn't have to be perfect, but stringent editing is a must.
3.] Be active. Whether it's in the communities or the forums, if you're not active, it isn't fair you think you should be allowed to take up space in the anthology. We're not saying post 3,000 times a week. That's insane. But don't register, lurk and then suddenly appear the week before submissions. That won't count and you will be told very nicely you won't be allowed to participate.
The max WC for submissions is 10,000 words per entrant.
More information will be posted/e-mailed as the date approaches. Good luck and sign up fast!
